Intervention areas are: improvements in integrated coastal zone and water management, governance and land use regulations, stakeholders who contribute to its protection and management, and by developing sustainable mangrove-based value chain (e.g. honey, shellfish, charcoal and eco-tourism). Given the potential for carbon sequestration in mangroves, forest carbon may represent an additional revenue.This mangrove action will mainly benefit the coastal zone of Suriname. Institutional and policy support as well as activities at a national level will take place. This new Facility, LACIF, follows the strategic logic under the new NDICI to merge different financial instruments under the same umbrella. DCI and EDF converge in the new NDICI and this provides the opportunity to combine the two previous facilities in one, taking advantage of shared structures and stakeholders, minimizing administrative transaction costs and adding flexibility to the process of resource allocation, while catering to the unique opportunities and challenges of the two regions. Moreover, action at regional level is particularly relevant to tackle crucial aspects of infrastructure involving networks (transport, energy, water and digital) and regarding cross-border issues (health security, supply chains, migration, etc.). Intervention areas are: improvements in integrated coastal zone and water management, governance and land use regulations, stakeholders who contribute to its protection and management, and by developing sustainable mangrove-based value chain (e.g. honey, shellfish, charcoal and eco-tourism). Given the potential for carbon sequestration in mangroves, forest carbon may represent an additional revenue.</p><p>This mangrove action will mainly benefit the coastal zone of Suriname.
