      <narrative xml:lang="en">The Global Methane Initiative (GMI) is an action-oriented initiative that will reduce global methane emissions by promoting cost-effective, near-term projects that recover and use methane as a clean energy source. GMI is international in focus and will expand collaboration between developed countries, developing countries and countries with economies in transition, together with strong participation from the private sector. Founding partner countries account for approximately 60 percent of global methane from the targeted sources.</narrative>
