The main objective is to strengthen agricultural resilience and address the challenges posed by climate change by improving food production and farmers' incomes, with a special focus on women and youth through 1. The implementation of solar-powered irrigation systems to optimize water use; 2. Training and technical support for farmers to introduce climate-resilient agricultural practices; and 3. The creation of water user associations for the sustainable management of water resources. The target areas include nine villages located in three regions. Approximately 1.120 households, approximately 4.626 individuals will directly benefit from the project through access to irrigated land and training programs. The goal is to improve maternal, neonatal, and child health, as well as the nutritional status of women and children during the first 1,000 days of life, by intervening in both basic and specialized healthcare services. The proposed initiative includes: (i) renovation of the Maternal and Child Health Department. (ii) provision of medical equipment, supply of medicines, consumables, biomedical equipment, and nutritional packages for mothers and newborns during the first 1,000 days; (iii) establishment and equipment of an operating theater (iv) high-level training activities for Eritrean specialized healthcare personnel at various professionallevels on maternal and child health issues. Highly qualified training activities for specialized Eritrean healthcare personnel, at various professional levels, on topics related to maternal and child health. Focus will also be placed on training that addresses the rights, needs, and requirements of pregnant women, covering aspects of psychological support, assistance during childbirth and the postpartum period, and activities related to gender-based violence. This includes awareness-raising for healthcare workers and support pathways for GBV survivors. The initiative, with a duration of 24 months and a total budget of 2 million euros, will be entrusted to Civil Society Organizations and entities listed under Article 26, paragraph3, of Law 125/2014. L'iniziativa bilaterale è finalizzata alla ristrutturazione e al potenziamento del Dipartimento della Salute Materna e Infantile presso l'Ospedale Orotta di Asmara, in Eritrea. L'obiettivo è migliorare la salute materna, neonatale e infantile, oltre allo stato nutrizionale di donne e bambini nei primi 1.000 giorni di vita, intervenendo sia sui servizi sanitari di base che su quelli specialistici. L'iniziativa prevede: i) la ristrutturazione del Dipartimento della Salute Materna e Infantile; ii) la fornitura di attrezzature mediche, di medicinali materiali di consumo, apparecchiature biomedicali e pacchetti nutrizionali per madri e neonati durante i primi 1.000 giorni; iii) l'avvio e allestimento di una sala operatoria iv) attività di formazione altamente qualificata per il personale sanitario specializzato eritreo, a diversi livelli professionali, su tematiche legate alla salute materna e infantile. Verrà inoltre posta attenzione alla formazione focalizzata sul diritto delle gestanti, sulle esigenze e bisogni, che copra anche aspetti di assistenza psicologica e accompagnamento al parto e al post-partum e ad attività di relative alla violenza di genere, con sensibilizzazioni degli operatori sanitari e percorsi di assistenza per le sopravvissute a GBV. The One Health approach integrates animal, human, and environmental health, improving dairy sector productivity and reducing the risk of zoonotic disease transmission. The activities include strengthening diagnostic capacity, digitiz-ing health data, and training personnel. The project is data-driven, relying on data collection and analysis to guide policy and operational decisions. Beneficiaries include livestock farm-ers, health institutions, the Eritrean Ministry of Agriculture, and the Ministry of Health. The needs analysis has highlighted gaps in the diagnosis, pre-vention, and control of zoonotic diseases, along with the need to strengthen the National Animal and Plant Health Laborato-ry (NAPHL) and improve epidemiological data management. Over a 24-month period, the project will contribute to building an effective surveillance system, supporting local institutions, and promoting food security through the adoption of preven-tion strategies based on international standards. L’iniziativa descritta nel documento, "EC 4bTB” presentanta dall’Istituo Zooprofilattico di Teramo (IZS), mira a supportare le istituzioni eritree nello sviluppo di un programma nazionale di eradicazione della Brucellosi (BR) e della Tubercolosi bovina (TB), focalizzandosi sulle regioni di Debub e Maekel, le più den-samente popolate. L’approccio One Health integra la salute degli animali, dell’uomo e dell’ambiente, migliorando la produttività del settore lattiero-caseario e riducendo il rischio di trasmissione delle malattie zoonotiche. Le attività includono il rafforzamento della capacità diagnostica, la digitalizzazione dei dati sanitari e la formazione del personale. Il progetto è dato-driven, basato sulla raccolta e analisi dei dati per guidare le decisioni politiche e operative. I beneficiari com-prendono allevatori, istituzioni sanitarie, il Ministero dell’Agricoltura e il Ministero della Salute eritrei. L’analisi dei bisogni ha evidenziato lacune nella diagnosi, pre-venzione e controllo delle malattie zoonotiche, oltre alla neces-sità di rafforzare il laboratorio diagnostico veterinario naziona-le (NAPHL) e migliorare la gestione dei dati epidemiologici. Il progetto, della durata di 24 mesi, contribuirà a costruire un si-stema di sorveglianza efficace, a supportare le istituzioni locali e a promuovere la sicurezza alimentare attraverso l’adozione di strategie di prevenzione basate su standard internazionali.
