    <description type="1">
      <narrative xml:lang="en">West Africa Blue aims to address the ecological and economic impacts of mangrove deforestation in Sierra Leones Sherbro River Estuary Region (SRE) by developing and implementing a community-focused conservation and income diversification project funded through the issuance of blue carbon credits. In exchange for protection and rehabilitation of the mangroves in the SRE, indigenous communities and local authorities of Sierra Leone will receive a share of the income from the sale of carbon credits through a carbon credit benefit sharing agreement. The objective of the technical assistance is to provide preinvestment support to conduct a series of assessments that will more fully demonstrate the feasibility of the project and allow for consideration of Political Risk Insurance.</narrative>
