There were broadly recognised allegations of widespread vote-buying and the turmoil led to jails and Government buildings being stormed. The Prime Minister and the President stepped down and the election results were annulled. During 2021 several elections/referenda were held. This action is a multi-level intervention to prevent violence in 25 districts across the Kyrgyz Republic, identified as potential hotspots for pre- and post- election-related violence. It supports youth volunteer groups, civil society, and local self-government bodies to improve conflict-analysis, conflict-prevention, and mediation skills and pilot locally-led, inclusive initiatives to more effectively prevent potential violence at the local level. A communications campaign targeting the general public offers counter-messaging to divisive narratives in the pre- and post-election environment. The overall objective of the action is to enable a participative and pluralistic political dialogue without violence in particular in connection with elections and referenda in the Kyrgyz Republic.</narrative></description><participating-org ref="XI-IATI-EC_FPI" role="1" type="15" activity-id="XI-IATI-EC_FPI-2021-ACT-60429"><narrative>European Commission</narrative></participating-org><participating-org ref="XM-DAC-21038" role="2" type="21" activity-id="XI-IATI-EC_FPI-2021-ACT-60429"><narrative>International Alert</narrative></participating-org><participating-org ref="XI-IATI-EC_FPI" role="3" type="15" activity-id="XI-IATI-EC_FPI-2021-ACT-60429"><narrative>Service for Foreign Policy Instruments</narrative></participating-org><participating-org ref="XM-DAC-21038" role="4" type="21" activity-id="XI-IATI-EC_FPI-2021-ACT-60429"><narrative></narrative></participating-org><other-identifier ref="2021000038" type="A2"></other-identifier><other-identifier ref="XI-IATI-EC_FPI-2021/43311/0" type="A3"></other-identifier><activity-status code="4"></activity-status><activity-date iso-date="2021-07-23" type="1"><narrative>Planned Start: 2021-07-23</narrative></activity-date><activity-date iso-date="2021-07-23" type="2"><narrative>Actual Start: 2021-07-23</narrative></activity-date><activity-date iso-date="2023-05-19" type="3"><narrative>Planned End: 2023-05-19</narrative></activity-date><contact-info type="1"><organisation><narrative>FPI</narrative></organisation><department><narrative>EC -
