By delving into the intricate interactions between contextual factors, actor relationships and power dynamics, this project will provide a holistic understanding of mobility challenges and opportunities and contribute towards enhanced inclusive, safe, resilient and sustainable cities and human settlements in Africa. Specifically, the project aims to: 1. Map and characterise the mobility-related policies across relevant sectors and organisations in selected cities in African countries. 2. Conduct a scoping review of scholarship on how contextual factors, actor relationships, and power dynamics shape the development and implementation of mobility-related policies in different urban contexts in the majority world. 3. Engage decision-makers to identify and understand their context-specific evidence needs for policy changes and implementation challenges to advance mobility. 4. Develop a partnership to foster capacity enhancement for interdisciplinary social science research on public health policy in select African university settings. 5. Widen partnerships and produce a proposal for a longer-term grant that develops a consortium approach to enhance expertise, knowledge and resources for political analyses, policy advice and influence at partner institutions to support mobility in African cities. Its initial focus on the provision of Legal Aid and Psychosocial support to displaced people has since expanded and is now organised under five thematic programme areas;  Access to Justice  Conflict, Transitional Justice and Governance  Gender & Sexuality  Media for Social Change  Mental Health & Psychosocial Wellbeing Currently, RLP has ten (10) offices across the country with 167 employees with a gender disaggregation of 97Males and 70 Females from diverse backgrounds of professional disciplines, cultures and expertise, and with 32% of staff being refugees. RLP’s primary goal is to provide legal aid to refugees, asylum seekers, internally displaced persons and deportees. Over the years, RLP has grown into a ‘Leading Centre for Justice and Forced Migrants’, conducting cutting-edge research, evidence-based advocacy, and providing pro-bono legal aid services to forced migrants in various gazette refugee settlements refugee-hosting districts across Uganda.
