To this avail, UNMAS will: (i) provide technical assistance the local Government to correctly prioritize mine action activities, whilst making sure that such activities are realized in collaboration with local actors: (ii) carry out mine risk education activities, to raise awareness among the population that lives in contaminated areas of the risks and to make sure that they know how to address such risks when necessary; (iii) carry out demining activities aimed at granting access to essential infrastructures. Therefore, its operational priorities are: (i) promoting the protection of civilians; (ii) enable people forcibly separated from their relatives to reconnect and reunite with them; (iii) support the authorities’ efforts to ascertain the fate of missing people; (iv) help vulnerable people to bolster their resilience to the effects of the conflict. Since the outbreak of the Covid 19 pandemic, ICRC had updated its priorities in its Country programme to include Covid 19 prevention and response activities.
